NOTES

There's only three referred because these are the best three in the business. All other cards do not meet the quality of the three below.

The cards below all offer travel protection.

Travel cards specific to business, brands, and airlines are excluded from this list.

All travel cards listed below do not have foreign transaction fees, which means you can and should be purchasing items in Cancun in Mexican Pesos and not USD.

The American Express Platinum card is very lucrative if you use it right. Generally, you need to be invited to apply by American Express themselves or referred via a Platinum Card holder for best odds of getting approved for AMEX Platinum. Using my link below will award you 60,000 points as a sign-up bonus for a certain amount spend in 3 months. That's enough to fly you and your partner to Cancun roundtrip with United Airlines!

SAPPHIRE PREFERRED

Chase Sapphire Preferred is a little less intense than the AMEX Platinum, but it's a great travel card nonetheless! With an annual fee of only $95, you can't go wrong with it. The Sapphire Preferred doesn't give you as many benefits as AMEX, but it's great for building up points! You will get:

Note: The Chase alternative to the AMEX Platinum would be the Chase Sapphire Reserve, however I am choosing Sapphire Preferred as my choice of travel card here due to the lower annual fee and my personal opinion of Platinum being better than Reserve.

Using my link below will award you 75,000 points as a sign-up bonus for a certain amount spend in 3 months. That's enough to get you a Cancun flight roundtrip with AeroMexico!

Venture

Capital One Venture is always my one of my most recommended travel card without any foreign transaction fees because it provides the best bang for your buck! With an annual fee of only $95, you definitely can't go wrong with it.  Some of the highlights are:

Note: The Captial One alternative to the AMEX Platinum would be the the Venture X, however I am choosing Venture as my choice of travel card here due to the lower annual fee
